Heating System

A powerflush is a deep clean of your central heating system. Using a specialist machine, we pump a cleaning solution through your boiler, pipes and radiators at high velocity to remove the sludge, rust and debris that builds up over time. We also use strong magnetic filters that trap the dirt as it is flushed out. The result is a system that heats up faster, runs more efficiently and puts less strain on your boiler.

Common signs include radiators that are cold at the bottom but warm at the top, some radiators that never get warm, a boiler that keeps cutting out, noisy pipework or a boiler that runs but the house does not heat up properly. If you are noticing any of these, a powerflush is often the fix.

Our powerflush service starts from £350 plus VAT. The final price depends on the number of radiators and the condition of the system. As a rough guide, that starting price suits a smaller three or four-radiator system or a flat. We will give you a fixed price before we start.

Most powerflushing jobs take between four and eight hours depending on the size of the system and how heavily it is contaminated. We will be able to give you a better estimate once we have had a look at your setup.

In most cases, yes. Sludge and debris is the most common cause of cold radiators and an inefficient system, and a powerflush clears it out effectively. It is worth being honest about the limits, though. In older systems, particularly radiators that are 30 years or more old, sludge can harden and crust to the inside of the radiator almost like charcoal. A powerflush will shift most of the loose debris, but heavily caked-on deposits can need a radiator to be removed and cleaned or replaced. If we find an underlying issue like that during the job, we will flag it with you.

Gas Safe Register is the official, government-approved list of engineers who are legally allowed to work on gas appliances and installations in the UK. It replaced CORGI in 2009. Our engineers are Gas Safe registered, which matters because a powerflush involves working directly on your gas boiler.
